Canon Italy: Innovation and Sustainability Since 1937
Since its founding in 1937, Canon has been driven by a commitment to bringing innovation to the world of imaging, transforming the way people work, learn, and use images. In an increasingly connected world, Canon is dedicated to inspiring individuals and businesses as they continue to evolve. The company develops, manufactures, and markets a broad portfolio of products for businesses, professionals, and enthusiasts, ranging from cameras and cinema equipment to commercial and multifunction printers, as well as a wide range of solutions and services for businesses and the healthcare sector.
Canon operates according to the philosophy of Kyosei, which means “living and working together for the common good.” Through this philosophy, the company contributes to the promotion and implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Canon is committed to creating a more sustainable present and future by managing its own environmental impact and helping customers do the same through its products, solutions, and services.
The company is targeting an average annual improvement of 3% in its lifecycle CO₂ emissions index per product unit, achieving a cumulative improvement of 50% by 2030 compared with 2008 levels. Canon’s long-term goal is to achieve net-zero CO₂ emissions across the entire product lifecycle (Scopes 1-3) by 2050. This requires action across all areas of the business, from product design and manufacturing to product delivery and use, extending through to reuse and recycling.
Each year, Canon invests approximately 8% of its global revenue in Research & Development. In 2024, the company achieved a remarkable milestone by remaining in the Top 10 ranking of U.S. patent holders for the 41st consecutive year, while maintaining its position as the leading Japanese company in the ranking for the 20th consecutive year.
Canon has been present in Italy since 1957, with offices in Milan and Rome.
